Are there any cons to setting up bootcamp on my mac then also using parallels to link to the same VM for fast access but then rebooting into windows to have the power and speed needed for gaming. Question: Q: boot camp vs. Parallels I've been running Windows using boot camp on a Mac Mini with Snow Leopard. I just got a new iMac, trying to decide if I should continue to use boot camp or if I should try Parallels.

The biggest difference in the user experience to me is that with Boot Camp you are actually using Windows XP as your operating system and everything about your Mac hardware that is currently available to Windows through the drivers Apple supplies is dedicated just to using Windows, particularly the RAM. Whereas with Parallels, your operating system is Mac OS X, Parallels is a software program that is running on Mac OS X as any other Mac program and Windows is a guest operating system, hosted by Paralells and all the hardware resources are shared, specially the RAM. Although Parallels appears to work well, this eats a lot of memory, so you need to have a lot of RAM.
Yes, you can use both Boot Camp and Parallels on the same Mac. You just need a hard drive large enough for the Mac and the Windows partitions and those partitions should be large enough for the software you want to install in each environment.
