My default printer on OSX Mavericks is an HP 1320N laser printer. The printer is connected via ethernet to my home network. In OSX the printer works without problem and I have ensured the settings for the printer are set to 'share this printer on the network'.

I have Prallels installed on my iMac and have a virtual machine running Windows XP. The shared printing to the HP1320n wirks fine from the XP environment, with the HP1320n automatically showing up as the default printer.

As XP is no longer supported by Mr Gates, I have just created a new virtual machine and installed a new version of Windows 8.1 on it.

Parallels 13 Windows 10 no internet. What can I do? I disabled firewall in MacOS and reinstalled the parallels tools. In the device manager the network adapter reports to work properly. But in the diagnotics I get this message. Specifically the Network section. Set it to 'Shared' as below: You will have a MAC address in the 'MAC' field. Now I get a popup with the exact same message every time I start a VM an there is no network connection, but it does find the adapter and reports that the cable is unplugged – Thomas Apr 13 '17 at 14:18. Your Mac and Parallels Desktop virtual machine are no exception! There are several network modes in Parallels Desktop which we covered is one of the past blog s: Bridged, Shared and Host Only network.

From the devices and printers option on Win 8.1 I can see that the HP1320 is listed as the default printer. But if I try to print a test page (or anything else from within the Windows 8.1 VM), the test page is sent to windows and the icon for the HP1320 print queue appears briefly on the iMac dock, and then disappears - but nothing is printed. if I go to the print queue, it says the printer cannot be found

On deeper investigation I can see the properties dialog (in windows) of the 1320 printer says that the driver model is an HP colour laser jet 2820 AiO PS Class driver - which is clearly not correct. Parallels desktop 11 for mac serial. But it shodul have just inherited the driver from the OSX environment, I believe?

In the virtual machine I have set the network adapter to be bridged network (default connection) as per the articles in the Parallels KB area. But still no working printer. :-(

Buy windows for parallels mac desktop. Best Answer: Yes, you will have to buy Windows as well. If you are retiring your PC, you could use its Windows install disk since you've already paid for that license. It's easy with Parallels. Parallels simply offers an environment in which to utilize other operating systems. Whether you want Windows XP, Widows 8, Linux, or several of the above, you still have to get those and install them yourself.

I realise that I should expect the reponse from some forum members here that, as the printer is working under OSX, and not under Windows 8.1, so it is not a problem to post on the Apple Support Community Forum. I understand that point of view and apologise in advance. But I have tried getting support from Parallels, and from the Parallels forum - but to no avail yet. I thought that there might be fellow OSX users on this forum who also use Parallels and might be able to help me.
